August Wrap-up & Haul


My reading for August was Ok with the exception of This Savage Song & Everything leads to You which were both 5 & 4.5 stars respectively. Three of my reads were also eGalleys from Netgalley so in a way I guess you can say I took a stab at ARC August lol. I think August had to be a bit more on the calm side honestly because the excitement over the September line-up is overwhelming for this bookworm.

My August Book Haul is also one of my smallest in months! & i’m OK with this seeing as June was INSANE (June Book Haul)! HAHA! No regrets here 😉 This month however, I was lucky enough to win a giveaway that was being hosted by Kristin @ Super Space Chick for The Reader by Traci Chee. The Owlcrate book for August was P.S. I Like You by Kasie West (an ongoing Valentine’s Day gift from my husband ❤). All other’s I purchased with some pretty awesome B&N Member’s coupons, Amazon & Strand NYC irresistable steals. I’m going to put this out there now….I am not to be held responsible for all of the good books being released this fall that I will be book lusting over…

I’m pretty sure i’m not alone in feeling like August truly flew by. The last month of summer was pretty chill for my brood & I, basically prepping for my 5 year old daughter starting Kindergarten this week *grabs Kleenex*

For the most part we gave our 2 tiny humans some park time, got some reading in, and binge watched Stranger Things on Netflix. We also caught up with The Vampire Diaries (last 2 seasons were their best smh) & The Originals which will ALWAYS be a favorite. My husband & I watched The Originals finale last night & immediately started googling for a season 4 premier date. Sadly, one has not been announced because the show never really took off in ratings. It’s a spin-off of The Vampire Diaries which lost a ton of it’s following after a few seasons understandably so (There’s only so many times we can watch them chase Elena). However, The Originals in my opinion is the better show both in characters & plots. There’s also a ton of New Orleans culture infused into each episode making it a real treat to watch. Recently, with the news of TVD being canceled (Thank Goodness!) after the next upcoming season, it’s been announced that certain actors will cross over to The Originals. I will patiently await any & all news regarding The Originals 😉

I know i’m a few days late with my August Book Haul & Wrap-up, it honestly snuck up on me as did the fall season (my fave) & Kindergarten! LOl, i’ll be making my rounds on the Blogosphere tonight & tomorrow checking out my fellow book blogger’s hauls & wrap-up’s. I hope you all had an AMAZING August Loves!   1. I hope September is a way better reading month for you! Especially with all these new releases hehehehehehe!! Outrun the Moon and The Reader have really beautiful covers. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on The Reader, sounds different and super cool. I need season two of Stranger Things NOW and with a lot more episodes, please and thank you!

    1. Thank you Gretchen! We can rest assured that September will be an awesome reading month, what with me reading Six of Crows & all LOL! & our Leigh Bardugo meet-up! I just wanna read ALL the books 🤗🤗🤗😂😂😂

I purchased Monstress on Amazon because NetGalley only allows u to read the 1st part of volume 2, I think it’s building the world & the artwork is beautiful 💕 thank you for stopping by Lauren 😃💕

  5. Omg! I love The Originals! Much better show than TVD. Elena just annoyed me.
    I haven’t watched any of it lately though 😦 been stuck waiting for and watching Pretty Little Liars, can not wait for that to be over! haha.
    But I will definitely have to conduct a binge watch of The Originals soon lol.

    1. Every episode in this last season season of The Originals was INSANE! back to back had me wanting to watch the next one at 2am lol. I’m prob 2 seasons behind now on PLL since last I watched, A was the brother of Alison? Maybe I got that wrong but I do know her secret lol smh 🙈 thank u for stopping by! I’m def gonna have to catch up with PLL now 😂💕

      1. Haha, awesome! I will have to get it and binge watch it on the weekend! So excited now!
        There are 10 episodes left of PLL, which of course don’t air until next year. FML! I just want to be over and also never end at the same time lol. It has just been around for so long!
        Another favourite show is Supernatural, season 12 airs in October. I can’t wait! I love the boys in that show lol.

      2. OMG! Supernatural! I binged & caught up to the last season this July & yea I can’t get a ouch of the Winchesters 😊 especially Dean 😂😂😂 PLL has gone on for too long & I can’t stop watching, I’m going to see if the episodes are available on the app 🙂

        PLL is a terrible addiction, you don’t want to watch, but you just can’t stop! Lol, I want to read the books just to see how that all played out, apparently is completely different to the show!

      5. Definitely need an end soon! I am not sure how much more can happen to those girls lol.
        There are a few great books coming up. I haven’t paid much attention to whats coming up for tv, except Supernatural and Grimm lol. We have pretty bad tv lineups over here in Australia 😦

  6. I hope you have a better reading month in September! Have you read Nevernight yet? I cant remember… I have yet to decide if I am going to read it yet, but I am leaning towards yes. I guess I will have to wait and see what you think 🙂

    Stay strong Momma! Sending kids off to their first day of Kindergarten can be tough. Make sure you have the tissues ready!

    1. Thank you Amanda! September is looking much better already. I am definitely going to read Nevernight, it’s one of my most highly anticipated books of 2016. I really enjoy Mr. Kristoff’s writing & world building. I just know that it’s going to demand my full attention especially with all of the footnotes but I’ve only heard rave reviews so I’m excited. My little girl is starting Kindergarten & it’s scaring the beejesus outta me smh. Both my husband & I took the day off from work to drop her off & head on home to be all mopey about it even as we swear that we’re not lol smh *Kleenex on deck* thank u ❤

        Ahhhh so today was the big day! It is really hard to watch your children grow up… rewarding, but hard. I have one that is going to be 10 next month, so I went through all of this with him. My almost 3-year-old is now potty trained and wants to go to pre-school, however I don’t know if I am ready to let her go as she is our last child.

      2. Awesome! The big day is actually this Thursday but it might as well be today with my nerves lol. I’m not ready to have a 10 year old Amanda 😩😩😩 God Bless you! I still have my 2 year old son at home to relive this experience all over again. Potty training=GOALS! I was the same way with my little girl until the hubby “cut the chord” as he says 😂😂😂

  9. Have you read Outrun the Moon yet? I was supposed to start reading it yesterday with my buddy, but I’m running a bit behind right now so I haven’t had a chance to open the book yet! But I’m excited to read it because it sounds so good! And I love the cover. So I was just curious what you thought about it… If you’ve read it?

    1. Awesome! Someone else who picked it up! I haven’t gotten around to it yet, I got some unexpected arc approvals & now I’m getting through those after Six Of Crows. I do plan on reading it soon but looks like you’ll get to it before I do. I’m interested in hearing your thoughts on it 💕
