November Wrap-Up and Haul

Let’s be honest…November wasn’t the best of months for many & we’re all wishing for a much better 2017, well I know I am lol. November marks the beginning of my favorite time of year because of Thanksgiving. I have many beautiful memories tied to this holiday and i’m making new ones for my two tiny humans. This month was filled with family time and I managed to surprise myself with my reading because I really didn’t think I would get much done at all. Favorite read of the month goes to Heartless, it was just what I needed at the time and I was so glad to have buddy read it with Gretchen @Chicnerdreads. Every month I squeeze in a audiobook & it’s always a treat when I go with Gaiman, The Graveyard Book did NOT disappoint. Fractured was a fast paced page turner that hooked me in til the very last page. Crooked Kingdom was a bittersweet conclusion to what has now become my favorite duology *fingers crossed for more Dregs*

I seriously thought I had purchased way more than I actually did this month and for this I am very thankful LOL! Besides digging myself out of my ARC hole, I have also taken advantage of some e-book deals this month. I love adding to  my physical library but for now, i’m scaling back just a smidge. In my haul I include my Owlcrate subscription (ongoing Valentines Day gift from hubby), Book of The Month subscription, physical books, e-books, and the random books/bookish items my hubby gifts me from time to time. So, Let’s get on with it…

Heartless was the November Owlcrate selection & The Trespasser by Tana French was the book I selected for my Book Of The Month subscription. I ordered Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them the same night I watched the movie cuz it was THAT good! hehe. The Sun Is Also A Star will be my 1st Yoon even though I own Everything Everything, I was hooked once I read the synopsis for The Sun Is Also A Star so I hope that it’s as good as what I hear its predecessor was.

Gifts from Lé hubby: Potter, Beasts & Blanket ❤

Kindle Deals I couldn’t resist for $1.99 or less, Blood Lust by Jill Cooper was a free book I found thanks to the lovely Liz at CoverToCover  who featured a Sci-Fi & Fantasy Mega Promo on her blog mid November💕

Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them was Fan-Frikkin-Tastic!!! Hubby and I felt a wave of nostalgia hit us as soon as we heard the Harry Potter theme music intro. As a matter of fact he turned to me & said “BABE! I’ve missed that intro” 😂😂😂 we completely fangirled/boyed out Lol. The actors were all pretty great but as many will probably agree, The Niffler stole the show haha. Also, major brownie points for taking place in the 20’s, my fave time period in history (Real & Fantasy) I’m looking forward to the upcoming movies in this new installment to a beloved world 💕

SoOo I am currently OBSESSED with This Is Us…it’s intense what I feel for this show lol. I recently watched the first 9 episodes on Hulu  and every single one…hit me in the feels! all of them! every single time! This show has it all and then some, I don’t think there’s anything to compare to this show on tv at the moment. I’ve heard it be compared to The Parenthood but I never watched that show so I wouldn’t be able to confirm this to be true. The acting…The writing…I really can’t even describe how amazing of a show this truly is. Told in present day & flashbacks this show weaves the lives of this family together in a most seamless way. I love it & will sit back and wait for the Emmy announcements to start rolling in LOL 😉

Hope you all had a good November filled with good food and great reads! Although November was a bit rough, i’m hoping for a better December. What were some of your EPIC reads for November? watch anything new on Netflix/Hulu?

Lo was feeling extra generous & cool this month, I AM LOVING my blanket & so is Logan smh. 2. Oh man, I love This is Us!! It’s my new most favorite show ever, haha. Every episode kills me, but last week in particular made me just cry so hard. It’s really amazing, and it has a really amazing cast! I can’t gush about it enough.

(I did watch Parenthood, but only season one and then it lost me. I think, my opinion of course, is that while they are similar in that they’re drama’s about family This is Us blows Parenthood out of the water.)

    1. YES!!! I can’t stop raving about this show either lol, last week I agree was the most emotional episode I’ve watched. That scene with the push-ups?!?! JEEZ the waterworks I put on in my cubicle had some worried haha! The cast is amazing & now I can’t wait for Tuesday’s to get my dose. I sit here worried for Randall’s state of mind as if he were one of my relatives IRL lol smh. Whelp, I guess I’m not that sorry I missed out on Parenthood then LOL!

      1. Oh man, the push-ups scene was SO brilliant! But I also loved how prior to last weeks episode I was so ready to be angry at Rebecca, but the whole “Look through it” scene, with the panic and pain… maybe it’s having an adopted sister, but for the first time I really allowed myself to see how human Rebecca’s mistakes were. My husband and I both finally admitted that we may have made the same bad decision she did, out of fear… I mean, that’s what makes the show so spectacular. All those levels of gray.

      2. Oh wow! Yes, that scene actually stirred up my anxiety but that just speaks to the quality of writing & acting in this show. The many levels of Gray makes this show relatable & like you said spectacular 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

  3. It looks like you had an awesome November reading wise. I have to combine my November and December wrap-ups because November was such a horrible reading month for me. And, I could also easily see Fantastic Beasts Again.

  4. It looks like you actually had a pretty good month! That hubby sure knows how to pick out a gift 😉

I almost snagged The Falconer, now I wish I had. I should see if the price went up. I am so curious about it. It would be fun to trade thoughts ❤

    1. Not too shabby Danielle lol. The hubby always seems nicer in the gifting season bahaha! Oh you totally should’ve, I would love to trade thoughts on it with you 😉 I almost purchased both for $2.99 but good ol’ Jimminey Cricket aka Gretchen @Chicnerdreads quickly advised me to see how I feel about book 1 first book LOL! practicing some better book habit just until January then I let the crazy out.

  5. Fractured was so fun to read! I also love This Is Us , I cry with every episode. I think this family is more likable than the one in Parenthood, although I loved one of the couples there. I hope December goes well ❤

    1. I flew through Fractured lol. This Is Us puts me through it every week but I can’t get enough! lol I love this family & their individual relationships with each other, well with the exception of Randall & Kevin but I have high hopes for those two 😉 the twins have to have THE BEST on tv relationship I’ve seen in a while, love how protective they are towards each other. I need more Rebecca, I know we will get more of her story as we go along but every episode I have so many questions. Great show 🙂

      1. I really like Rebeca, tge last episode made me cry when you see everything she did for them, but I also felt for William when he got the letter, he was so excited 😦 My fave is Jack though! I think you’d enjoy Parenthood ^^

      2. I am obsessed with Jack smh 😂 I just convinced (pressured lol) my sister into watching it & she was talking about Miguel, Rebecca’s new husband…I didn’t know how much I loved Jack til I hardcore defended him in the middle of my kitchen. She was watching the scene where Miguel asks if he can wear the hat for the kids. I heard it while I washing dishes & stopped with a “NOOOO MIGUEL! You Cannot wear the hat! Only JACK can wear the hat!” 🙈🙈🙈

  6. Looks like you got such a great haul of books this November, I’m jealous! 😉 and I agree that November seemed to be a terrible month for many, I think it was cursed, so thank god we’re onto a new month! Hope you enjoy your new books! 😊

  7. Great recap for this month Lilly. Seems like you had a great one and you got through some amazing books as well. I can’t wait to read Heartless myself and I’m glad to see you enjoyed Crooked Kingdom as well. Amazing haul as well, I recently read The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet and loved it so I hope you really enjoy it as well!
Fantastic Beasts is probably my favourite movie of this year so far, and it’s up against some tough competition. I agree the Niffler definitely stole the show and even though it’s still so long to go I can’t wait for the second one now!
Happy reading for December Lilly! 😀

    1. Thank you Beth 😊💕 I had an enjoyable reading November so I can’t really complain. I really hope you enjoy Heartless as much as I did, I have a feeling you will *fingers crossed* I finally decided to jump on the ebook deal for The Long Way to a Small and Angry Planet since my copy from the Bookdepository has very small font which is probably why I haven’t read it yet. I agree on FBAWTFT, it’s also my fave movie of 2016 & I’m excited to see all the others & eventually collect them 😍
      Happy Reading December Beth 💕

      1. That’s all right! ❤️ Yeah my November was enjoyable as well, and I’m sure I’ll love Heartless as much as you did too!
Ahh yeah I read that book as an ebook as well so I can’t really say much about the font in my paperback book!
I’m thinking of buying all the Funko Pops they have for FBAWTFT, they have one of the Niffler as well! 😀

      2. Ahhh! Lol we are on the same wavelength! I have The Niffler in my shopping cart online but haven’t checked out because I’m trying to justify getting all of the other characters 😂😂😂

  8. Looks like you had a pretty great reading month, Lilly! I need to hurry and finish Crooked Kingdom so I can finally read your review. Only 15 more chapters!! The further I get the better it gets. I’m loving it! I’m completely with you on Fantastic Beasts. That movie was so good. It has officially taken the spot of my favorite movie of 2016 and the Niffler definitely stole the show. I actually bought a little Funko figure of him because I couldn’t resist it 😂. Also, I can’t believe I missed the Kindle deal for The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet. I’ve seen several great reviews for that one. Here’s to hoping December is a great month! ♥

    1. HAHA I so was! i’m a sucker for anything remotely Wonderland tbh, thanks Lauren. FBAWTFT was hands down my favorite movie of the year because I don’t anticipate anything coming along from now until the end of the year that will dethrone it lol. I def want to collect the Funkos I’ve been seeing of The Niffler & Newt all over Bookstagram, they are too cute ❤ ❤ ❤

  9. I absolutely LOVED Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them!!! I even got to experience it with my little brother who was home for the first time since his 9 month deployment to South Korea. It was so special sharing it with him because we read the Harry Potter series together when we were kids. I also took my son, who loved it and actually asked for the screenplay, which if you know the reluctant reader he is, is a HUGE deal!

    Happy reading in December Lilly!

We read the Potter books around the time that we met & ever since we buddy read a ton. The screen play is exactly like the movie so he will be able to replay the whole thing whenever he wants lol until DVD comes out of course 😉 happy reading & blogging in December Amanda 💕
