November TBR


I really never thought I’d be writing a TBR post EVER, but it’s happening & I have Larkin over at WonderfilledReads to thank for it 🙂 cuz Hi! I’m Lilly & I am a bookaholic & need some structure in my life lol. For the months of November & December (possibly even January/Feb) I will be writing a TBR post to keep me accountable & also to let you all know what you can expect to see reviewed on Lair Of Books. This post is also a few days late simply because I’m quite indecisive & choosing my books turned into a project lol. All of the books I’ll be reading are arcs/galleys since that mountain is quite high & terrifying folks. If you happen to be reading any of the books I mention, feel free to add me on Twitter (end of post) & we can fangirl or vent about said read. Also, these will be in no particular order since I am still at my core a mood reader. You will see a variety of genres but for the most part, YA is dominant on my blog. I am very thankful to the publishers who’ve approved me for these books & as such try my best to get reviews up on or around the mth of publication. Now, onto the books….

Renegades (Renegades #1) by Marissa Meyer

*I finished reading Renegades last night (while in the tub) & almost dropped my book cuz WTF?!?!? I wasn’t expecting that ending. So GOOD Bookworms! review to come on Monday since I have another review going up on Friday.

The Closest I’ve Come by Fred Aceves

Marcos Rivas wants to find love.

*This is my current read & I am only 15% in and really enjoying Aceves’ style of writing, reminds me of Adam Silvera who we all know i adore to pieces!so we’ll see how it fares *fingers crossed*

Artemis by Andy Weir

*I def missed out on all the hype surrounding the Martian & even though I still plan on reading it, I got artemis both on Netgalley & through Goodreads giveaway. also, jazz sounds like she’s going to be a instant fave 🙂

Beasts of extraordinary circumstance by ruth Emmie lang

*The actual goodreads synopsis is seriously a sentence short of being called an essay so i grabbed only what i needed to know that this was a book i’d love to read…it’s btwn this one & artemis for my next read

*after reading & enjoying how to hang a witch last year, i was hella curious to check out the next installment in this series. the author herself has so much history in her lineage that i’ll admit is part of my interest in these books…+ anything titanic is a must read by this bookworm

Frankie by shivaun plozza

*at first this was a complete impulse request cuz look at that cover! Frankie is the epitome of angry, i’m kind of hoping there are some illustrations in this book cuz it really gave me comic book vibes. I’ve also had a ton of luck reading good ya mysteries which i’m hoping this contemporary delivers

Girl in the tower (The WInternight trilogy #2) by katherine arden

The sequel to The Bear and the Nightingale & my MOST HIGHLY anticipated read of 2017!!! I left out the Goodreads synopsis for spoilers sake. Currently The Bear and the Nightingale is in the semifinal round on Goodreads for “Best Fantasy” & “Best Debut Goodreads Author” so well deserved! 🙂

  2. Oh my god Lilly I am currently reading Renegades at the moment and seeing what you’ve written about the ending has just made me desperate to drop everything and keep reading. I’ll be keeping an eye out for your review that for sure (as long as I’ve finished reading the book before you post it that is, I don’t like reading reviews for books I’m currently reading, especially books like Renegades I have been so so excited for the release of).
    Also I’ll wish you luck with your TBR list, I tried it on my blog and could never stick with it, the perils of being a mood reader. 😀 I hope you enjoy all these books as well. 🙂 ❤

I have a sneaking suspicion you will end up finishing Renegades rather quickly Beth! & then we will need to chat it up, my review is set to go up this coming Monday since I need the weekend to properly insert giphs lol. We are the same in that regard my friend, I do not like reading other reviews before writing my own for fear my experience with the book will be tainted or changed in any way both positive or negative. This is my 1st go at a TBR & I’m mostly doing it because I have too many arcs both digitally & on my shelves *frightening* that I would like to tackle lol. Thank you Beth 🙂

        Yeah I’m always very influenced by negative reviews, so now I just tend to avoid all reviews for books I want to read.

She is so worthy! The Closest I’ve Become for some reason hits home with me, maybe because you know we’re both from the hood trying to make it out here alive. i would love to know your thoughts on that one. happy reading!!! i hope you read all of them and maybe even squeeze in some more lol.

I'm very happy for her & for the fact that her writing is being recognized cuz it's so lush & beautiful! she is def worthy, I agree twin. The Closest I’ve is very raw & rough around the edges & it is a galley so I'm sure certain things will be edited but it's def 100% relatable. Now, it is told from a teen males POV so that also is different for me. Will def let you know how it sits when I'm done 😉 & girl that is the wish, to finish these all and have a little wiggle room for more haha! Happy reading twin! ❤ ❤ ❤

  7. Yeahhhhhhhh, you finally took my advice! Honestly, I’m changing your reading life right now. Bahahaha, just kidding! Anyways, so excited for your Renegades review because I need that book in my life pronto. Beasts of Extraordinary Circumstance might be going on my December TBR because it seems like the perfect book to read around Christmas. I never read The Martian either, so don’t feel bad about that. I’m really interested in Artemis though, because it sounds seriously fun! I think I’m gonna grab Haunting the Deep from the library because I really enjoyed How to Hang a Witch when I read it… and Titanic?! YES!!!

    1. I did take your advice & I’m very happy I did too! so thank you! ❤ I'm def feeling less stressed about what I need toread next since this gives me an idea & some choices for my mood. YOU'RE SOOOOO CHANGING MY READING LIFE! LMAO! I'm excited to write that review this weekend, def more so than the one I'm about to write for The Dark Intercept lol. I just ordered the exclusive edition from B&N with Meyers behind the scenes notes, preeeeetty excited about that haha! Beasts of Extraordinary Circumstance also seems like a shorter read than the others which is why I'm reading it this mth. Next mth's TBR is scary smh but I agree, it def gives off Christmas time vibes. Artemis I keep hearing is a fun read so yay for that & I'm sooooooo looking forward to Mather's 2nd book! *gimme gimme gimme* 🙂

      1. My co-blogger actually reviewed the book back in October, if you want to check it out. Isn’t Mather’s family incredible? Her family is also linked to the Mayflower. I find her lineage fascinating, because my family came to America in the 1950s.

  10. Good luck with sticking to your TBR! I used to write TBR posts but I am the biggest mood reader and I never ended up reading ANY of the books I planned to read for a month! Now I just pick whatever I’m in the mood for and it’s great XD BUT OMG RENEGADES I’M SOOO FLIPPIN’ EXCITED TO READ IT??? BECAUSE IT SOUNDS SO GOOD AND IT’S MARISSA MEYER AND AHHHHHHH ❤

    1. Thank you! It’s my first time officially posting one on my blog but I’ve sort of always had a rough outline in my head of what I would be reading throughout the mth lol. I’m a mood reader as well so it helps that I read across a variety of genres to keep me from burning out. Next year it will def include more Fiction along the way. Renegades was EPIC!!! So damn good! & yea Marissa Meyer is amazing 🙌🏼💕

    I’m proud of you for picking all ARCs– I know that can be a challenge as a mood reader. I feel so behind when it comes to reading my ARCs… O_o But that’s why I’m participating in State of the ARC with Evelina. 😀
