Books On Books On Books

Hello Bookworms! hope you’re all having a wonderful morning & for some of you afternoon/night 😀 it’s my 1st day back in the office after a week off from work & I’m so NOT ready! but there is one good thing about getting back to the daily grind of commuting…READING! 😍 being home with my wonderful family was much needed & so reading took a back seat. Today I’m back at it with a heavy commute that gives me a total of 5 hours for reading or listening to a audiobook. This means I can get back to whittling down the stacks to make room for…well, you know?

MORE BOOKS! …

Lord of Shadows (The Dark Artifices #2) | The Princess Diarist | Whichwood (Furthermore #2) | Far From Tree | Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow (Nevermoor #1) | Marrow | Mud Vein | Atheist Who Kneel and Pray

2018 is the year I mix it up even further on Lair Of Books. I already read Diverse/Own Voices whenever possible but I’d also like to try other genres. Although I’ll still mostly read YA Fantasy & contemporary, I’ll also be giving New Adult and Middle Grade a go (polar opposites haha!). Also, since I’ll be making a more conscious effort to read from my shelves more often, you’ll be seeing Fiction & Adult Fantasy as well. Maybe this way I’ll finally tackle my past Book of the Month boxes 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

Foolish Hearts

Sadly this will be my last Owlcrate box, it was a good run & I may still return but for now it’s time to say goodbye 💙

Sourdough | The Wife Between Us | The City of Brass (The Daevabad Trilogy #1)

These caught my attention instantly! but I’m MOST excited for The City of Brass 🤗🤗🤗

Ace Of Shades (The Shadow Game #1) | Girls Burn Brighter

*I’m getting better at requesting only what I’m super stoked for 😉

Considering a couple of these were Twitter giveaway wins, I’d say this was a good month? 🤷🏻‍♀️😂 although I’ll no longer be subbed to Owlcrate, I will be giving Fairyloot a shot so we’ll see how that goes. I’m pretty stoked for my 1st box this month 🤗🤗🤗 Did you haul anything exciting in December? if you’re a BOTM subscriber, what were your picks?

    1. Thank you Inge! I’ve been waiting to sub to Fairyloot for about a year before finally deciding to take the plunge since i live in the U.S. & shipping is pricey. We’ll see if it’s worth keeping though lol. & yea gotta keep my reading interesting, happy reading! ❤

  1. This is a pretty epic haul Lilly! I’m very excited to see The City of Brass on there because oh my god that book was amazing! It was one of my favourite reads of 2017 and I feel like I’ve recommend it to everyone so I am really excited for you to read it and I can’t wait to see what you think of it as well. 😀 It’s a shame this is your last Owl Crate box, I loved seeing through your blog what they featured in their boxes each month, but I’m sure you’ll love Fairy Loot, it seems like each of their boxes just gets better and better! 🙂
I hope you manage to find the time to read all these books soon, especially with all the new releases that will be coming out this month as well! 😀
    Happy reading. 🙂 ❤

    1. Thank you Beth! ❤ I'm ashamed to say I actually came across a arc copy of The City of Brass in early October but never got around to reading it & I'm not sure why. Now it's sky high at the top of my TBR for the last of these winter months. I can't wait to get to it after reading so many great reviews & reading your thoughts! I was sad to see Owlcrate go but I couldn't possibly keep both with the shipping fees for Fairyloot being so high. I am excited though to see what FL has in store for 2018 since they seriously stepped up their game at the end of 2017. Happy reading! 🙂

      1. That’s all right, and oh I get what you mean. There are ARCs I feel like I’ve had for ages but that I’ve still yet to get around to. I hope you love The City of Brass, you seriously need to let me know what you think of it ASAP. 🙂
No I was the same, the shipping for Owl Crate to the UK was too much and when I found a UK box I liked it just seemed obvious to go with Fairy Loot instead.
        Thanks. 🙂 ❤

      2. Haha! Tonight I will work on trying to figure out which books I’m going to read this month. I had started posting my TBR’s two mths ago but it’s not working out 😂😂😂 for the most part I read 4 Of The 6 I post but I began feeling pressured which is not a good thing. Anyways, it’ll be more of a personal list in my planner going forward lol, and City Of Brass is in my desk as I sort through arcs to see where I can fit it in 🤞🏼😃

P.S. If you ask me, Fairyloot is kinda reigning supreme between the two at the moment #jussayin 🤷🏻‍♀️😄

      3. I know what books I’m going to read this month, simply because they’re either ARCs I need to get through or books I am so excited for I feel like I need to start them ASAP. After that it’s going to be whatever I feel like reading! 😀
In my opinion too, January is going to be amazing but because of the theme I’m actually more excited for February’s box (I love all things fairytale!) 🙂 ❤

  2. Awesome haul, Lilly! I used to do Owlcrate a few months back and for the few months I got I only really liked one and the things that I received didn’t really amount to the price, in my personal option. I do love Fairyloot way more and yes the shipping is pricey for sure. But it has more advantages, I usually like the UK covers more and the quality of products are pretty awesome and worth it. I’m eager to see more of your fantasy reads, I love fantasy! I hope you have a wonderful week, Lilly.

    1. yea neither have I LOL! buuuut it is the smallest BOTM book I own next to Exit West (smh) so I’m def going to get to it soon. OH! I’m so glad someone I know went with Red Clocks! I wanted to choose it so bad & then made the mistake of reading Goodreads comments where basically I think people are comparing it way too hard against Handmaids Tale. I’m going to need you to text me your thoughts when you do get around to it lol 🙂

  3. What is this “only requesting books I am super stoked for” and how is this possible? You must teach me your ways!!!

I haven’t read any of these books, BUT I did buy Nevermoor for my niece for Christmas, so I am very curious to see what you think. I told her to let me read it once she’s done lol

    1. Haha! I am trying this whole new self control thing but well you know…it’s not likely that I’ll succeed in this area 😂

I’ve been hearing such non-stop AMAZING things about Nevermoore so I had to get it! This may be a February read so I’ll def let you know my thoughts 😉hope your niece enjoys the Read! 💜

  4. Holy cow, do you really have 5 hours of commuting?! That seems like an insane amount to me, so I hope it isn’t typical. But, if it is, thank goodness for good stories, right?
Ah, The Princess Diarist. 😥 I miss Carrie Fisher. Made watching The Last Jedi bittersweet. I hope you enjoy the book!

  5. What a great haul!
Love the Sword in the Stone gif at the top, btw. ❤ I loved watching that movie all the time as a kid. 😛
Phew! That's quite the commute you have, but thankfully you make the most of it by reading and listening to audiobooks, so that's good. 🙂 I imagine it would be quite maddening otherwise. lol

  6. Booooooks! I see a hardcover version of Whichwood, and can just imagine how beautiful it must be! Also I see The Princess Diarist, which is on my TBR! I read the first chapter (I forget where), and it was so so good.

    Happy reading, Lilly! ❤
