WWW Wednesday 4/11/18

WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On a World of Words and to participate all you have to do is answer the three W’s listed below. Once you’ve posted your WWW, drop a link to your post in Sam’s comments <3’s!

The questions are:
1. What are you currently reading?
2. What did you recently finish reading?
3. What do you think you’ll read next?

I’m currently in the midst of getting my blogging mojo back which is why you’re getting this post later in the day/night. I wanted to update you wonderful bookworms on my reading since that hasn’t been affected by my blogging slump. Thankfully, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel & have already started making my rounds on your blogs spreading my 💜!

Ace of Shadows (The Shadow Game #1) by Amanda Foody

I am currently 70% into Ace of Shades & REALLY enjoying the read. I went in a bit hesitant after reading some not so great reviews on Goodreads. Truthfully speaking, if you’re going into this book comparing it to Six of Crows then you’re basically setting yourself up for disappointment cause that’s one hella high standard. That being said, there are some aspects that reminded me of Six of Crows in the same manner that SOC reminded me a bit of Ocean’s Eleven. I LOVE mobster stories (think Gangs of New York) & so this was one I knew I had to request from the Publisher while holding my breath haha! So far, I am loving so much of this story that I doubt the remaining 30% will change my mind. The LGBTQIA+ representation is STRONG in Ace! ❤  but I’ll go into more of that in my upcoming review 😉

My Plain Jane (The Lady Janies #2) by Cynthia Hand, Jodi Meadows, an Brodi Ashton

Starting this MUCH anticipated follow-up TONIGHT! & I just cannot wait to leave the office aka The Dungeon…and snuggle up on the couch with this book! fave blanket and all *eeeeK* I expect to be giggling and straight out laughing out loud all through the night 🙂

Grey Sister (Book of the Ancestor #2) by Mark Lawrence

FLAWLESS! Couldn’t have asked for a better sequel. This book had a little of everything & some dark humor thrown in the mix. I will forever be a fan of Nona & watching her character growth along the way has been quite the roller coaster ride (my spoiler free review here).

The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw

On Monday I finished a buddy read of The Wicked Deep & this book is still haunting my every thought! it was just so damn good! I have  full review coming on the blog but in the mean time, please check out two of the lovely bookworms I buddy read with who have posted their reviews 🙂

Melanie @ Meltotheany & Amy @ A Court of Crowns and Quills

Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young

Ever since discovering Lagertha & Ragnar on Vikings…I haven’t been able to resist anything Viking related. I’m hoping to find yet another bad a** heroine to love 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 also, I’ll be buddy reading Sky in the Deep with Melanie @ Meltotheany & Amy @ A Court of Crowns and Quills this weekend *super stoked*

I hope you’re all having a wonderful Wednesday & loving your current reads! If you’ve read any of these books, I’d love to hear your thoughts 💜

  1. I am SO excited to start Sky in the Deep this weekend with youuuu! 💜 And I really need to start Red Sister. I got it for Christmas and it needs some love. Sigh. Btw I’m glad you’re enjoying Ace of Shades! I am telling myself not to compare it to SOC because that’s super unfair to Amanda Foody. I’m like 99% sure I’ll receive it in a book box this month. Heh. I’m sure I’ll love it since we have such similar tastes 💜

    1. Me too Amy!! 💓 & Red Sister is EVERYTHING 🙌🏼 I can’t wait for you to meet Nona and see why Mel and I love her so much! 😆 & I’m glad you can separate Ace from SOC, some can’t and it is very unfair to Amanda Foody 😕 I do believe it’s the Owlcrate pick for April? I cancelled my OC for Fairyloot in January but depending on the curation this month I may just do a single purchase😏 haha! 💜💜💜

  2. I NEED Ace of Shades! It sounds so good. Luckily I haven’t read Six of Crows yet, so I won’t have the problem of comparing haha. I also need to break down and buy The Wicked Deep already! I’ve been really wanting it and I keep hearing amazing things about it.

    1. I am on lunch reading the last 15% and so far it’s looking like a 4 star read. Still HIGHLY recommend Six of Crows 🙌🏼😂 but OMG the real hit was The Wicked Deep 🌚🌚🖤🖤 GASP! Please treat yourself before the Netflix shows makes its premiere (I sure when that is lol) 🤗

  3. I’ve been hearing great things about Ace of Shades, happy to hear you’re enjoying it! I am also SO VERY excited to read The Wicked Deep, I’ll look forward to your review of it! 😀
    Happy reading! 😀

    1. It’s possibly a 4 star read for me, some clarity is needed in the magic system but otherwise enjoyed the read. I’m trying so hard to stay away from Goodreads reviews for my arcs LOL! smh don’t want to be tainted 🙂

  4. I’m glad you’re enjoyed Ace of Shades Lilly, I have that one on my to-read list for next after I finish the next book I’m going to start tomorrow. It sounds good and I’ve seen some good reviews as well so I can’t wait to get started. Also I have The Wicked Deep on my Kindle so want to get around to that one soon too. 🙂
I hope you enjoy My Plain Jane, I can’t wait for that to be released. I loved My Lady Jane so I’m sure this sequel/companion (not really sure how to define it) will be just as amazing!
Great post, and happy reading Lilly! 😀 ❤

    1. Thank you Beth! ❤ ❤ ❤ I am still working through my thoughts but it's looking like a solid 4 star for Ace of Shades, can't wait to hear your thoughts when you get around to it & The Wicked Deep 🙂

I'm super stoked for My Plain Jane! Thank you Beth! I believe it stands alone in the series or trilogy (not sure how many books are planned), so this is a different version of Jane we'll be seeing 🙂

      Happy reading !<3 ❤ ❤

      1. That’s all right. 🙂 Oh that’s good, I want to get around to it soon but I’m looking forwards to it because it sounds amazing.
Yeah I think there’s three, but they’re all standalones but kind of a series as well you know, hard to define I guess. 😀
