In the tradition of Before I Fall and If I Stay, this tour de force from acclaimed author Adam Silvera, whose debut the New York Times called “profound,” reminds us that there’s no life without death, no love without loss—and that it’s possible to change your whole world in a day.
On September 5, a little after midnight, Death-Cast calls Mateo Torrez and Rufus Emeterio to give them some bad news: they’re going to die today. Mateo and Rufus are total strangers, but, for different reasons, they’re both looking to make a new friend on their End Day. The good news is: there’s an app for that. It’s called the Last Friend, and through it, Rufus and Mateo are about to meet up for one last great adventure—an unforgettable day that will change both their lives forever.

By now it’s safe to say that I am a fan of Adam Silvera & the man can do no wrong in my eyes..no seriously, he can’t 😌 When I first watched an interview of him where he mentioned that he was writing a Sci-Fi book next, my heart skipped a beat lol. Here is probably my ONLY favorite YA Contemporary aauthor & he is willing to take risks. I love that he is not trying to conform to just one genre. Yes, I believe there is some truth to authors having trouble when trying to cross over however Adam is still new to us readers. I’d take risks in the beginning too, why not? Life is too short to be put in a box & Adam in his writing has shown us that. I’m excited for this new book & it’s setting in NYC which is where I live. Adam knows these streets better than most & it’s nice to see familiar places in his books. There’s something real  & raw about the friendships/relationships in Adam’s books. I cannot wait to read They Both Die at the End with its GORGE cover 😍💙😍💙😍

Which of my bookish peeps are READY for another Adam silvera book?!?! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 I know I am, cuz History Is All You Left me SLAYYYYYED my life 😩 Haha!

  1. Great pick for this week Lilly. I actually just finished More Happy Than Not today and oh I loved it so much. It wasn’t what I expected. Everything from the story itself to the characters and their relationships and even the twist (I guess you could call it a twist) in the middle. I loved that book thought it hurt my heart a lot.
I plan on starting History is All You Left Me tomorrow and I saw the cover and blurb reveal for this book today and oh I am just so excited to get my hands on this one as well. It sounds brilliant though I guess it’s going to be another heartbreaking read. I think it’s safe to say Adam Silvera is going to quickly become a favourite author of mine too! 😀 ❤

      1. That’s all right, and wow sounds like a busy week. Some of my friends have moved house recently and it always seems like a major undertaking!
Yep I finished History is All You Left Me on Monday, not sure when my review will be up because there are other reviews I need to post first, but it definitely crushed my soul. Not as much as More Happy Than Not because there was a happier ending in a way, but it was still such an emotional read. I can see why Adam Silvera is an instant fave for you! 😀

      2. Thanks Beth! It has been a daunting task with some minor losses along the way in terms of furniture 😂😂😂 but thankfully I’m about 85% done. I’m surprised HIAYLM didn’t crush you more than More Happy Than Not lol! I cried like a babyyyyy smh 🙈🙈🙈 oh Adam! He gets all my tears, save them all for him haha!

      3. That’s all right, and I guess daunting kind of sums it up well doesn’t it?
No HIAYLM didn’t crush me as much, it had a more hopeful ending which was nice, still really really sad though. Still I know what to expect from Adam Silvera now so I can be prepared for his next book! 🙂

    1. really? why thank you! I must admit that I feel all over the place sometimes but I go with wherever the mood takes me lol. & I just love a good story & meeting my next fave characters from the unlikeliest of books. Adam is a favorite though & I’m loving that he isn’t staying within 1 genre & is giving this one a sci-fi twist 🙂

    1. No JACKIE! this must be rectified! lol! honestly if you appreciate a good tear jerker every once in a while then Adam’s the way to go. His Character’s are so complex, deeply layered, just so fleshed out. I always get attached to his characters, can’t wait to see how this one turns out 🙂

      1. Oh yeah?! No one has mentioned his character development (Well, not like this) in their reviews yet. Character development is absolutely KEY to my enjoyment of books. I have immediately requested More Happy Than Not. Let’s see if I’ve just found a new favorite author. 😀
