June Wrap-Up + Book Haul…A Little Bit Of This & A Little Bit Of That ;)

Hello Bookworms! When this goes live I’ll be counting down the last few hours in the office before I can do my FriYAy Dance 🤗 it’s been a long week & I am thrilled to finally start the weekend *huge sigh of relief* I’m actually participating in the #Smuthathon Readathon hosted by the lovely GingerReadsLainey & RileyMarie over on Booktube & so far it has been a awesome new experience 🙌🏼 Those of you lovely readers that have been around this blog for a while now know that I primarily read YA Fantasy/Fantasy however, sometimes a gal needs a pallette cleanser 😂 I am finding enjoyment in the books that I’m reading & so you’ll see the occasional New Adult, Rom-Com, or smutty read review on Lair Of Books. If this happens to be your wheel house, please leave me some recommendations in the comments down below 💜 For those who love Fantasy, fear not! I have a ton of titles I’ll be reading & reviewing throughout the rest of the year 😉 But 1st, let’s Wrap-up June…

LIFEL1K3 by Jay Kristoff (Unique AF! Kristoff really built a world from scratch including the slang, never read anything like this)4.5 STARS ✨

The Princess Diarist by Carrie Fisher (Audiobook, not exactly what I was expecting–RTC

The Queen Of Crows (The Armored Saint #2) by Myke Cole (Really hoped this would’ve gone a different way but still hoping for a strong follow-up–RTC)

Whisper Of The Tide (Song of the Current #2) by Sarah Tolcser (Favorite read of the month! EPIC & satisfying end to this duology)✨5 STARS ✨

Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik (a taste of Winter to to cool off in this summer heat, spell-binding!) ✨4.5 STARS ✨

JUNE FAIRYLOOT

Grace & Fury by Tracy Banghart (RTC Grace & Fury was a 3.5 star read for me; favorite item in this box is costume mask necklace. Would’ve LOVED the journal if it was for a full year, instead it covers July-December 2018)

JUNE BOOK OF THE MONTH

The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang (Recently found out that this is a series and after reading & listening to so many rave reviews, this is exciting news!!! really looking forward to this read)

Season 2 binge of Luke Cage was even better than expected! This is a Netflix show I really enjoy watching with the hubby for so many reasons! Ok, for me it’s all about the Wutang soundtracks Luke listens to while he kicks a** 🙌🏼😂🙌🏼 Luke is so old school & the show reflects that. The first season really made me fall in love with this show but season 2 solidified that love 💓 Luke is going through a transformation of sorts & by the very end he isn’t the same man we’ve come to love and trust. Also, we get introduced to a new character who challenges Luke & I surprisingly ended up enjoying. Why of why did it have to end? season 3 where are you?

June was one of those months that had me feeling off kilter which was mostly due to Bookcon at the very beginning of the month. I didn’t expect to read much of anything but ended up happy with the 5 books that I did finish. Surprisingly, I didn’t watch any movies. July however is already off to an AMAZING start so stay tuned for a more exciting Wrap-up/Book Haul for this month 😉

    1. Thank you Tammy! I read all my books on my commute to/from work & picking up my tiny humans from school, completely understandable how life gets in the way of our fave pass times 🙂

  1. Amazing wrap up, haul, (and picture of Luke Cagae!) I am loving doing #smutathon with you SO much! And we still have so many good books to go! I hope July treats you kindly, because you deserve the entire universe! 💗xx

    1. Exxxsqueeze me?!?! My reply didn’t post the first time 😩 thank you Mel! You’re too kind 💜 and this week has been so much fun participating in smutathon with you 😂 this may be a new tradition for us when we need a little break from all of our fantasy reads 👀 Happy Reading 💜!

  2. It seems like even though June was a little off-kilter for you you still got through some great books Lilly. I need to get around to Whispers of the Tide soon, and I actually read LifeL1K3 recently myself and really loved it! 😀
Yeah I agree with you about the Fairy Loot journal, as nice as it is I’d have liked it for the full year rather than just half. Still it’s a nice addition to the box, I love the art and bookish quotes inside. 🙂
Great post, and I hope you have a great July too. 🙂 ❤️

    1. Oh you’re going to love Whispers! So much fun and character development, the plot fast moving and keeps you flipping pages 😂 I look forward to your thoughts when you get around to it 💜 yea see it’s a pity cause I don’t see myself using this journal. I already have a journal I started two months ago to do what this journal could’ve done if I’d had it at the start of the year. Bummer but like you said it is very pretty. Thank you Beth, I hope you have an amazing July! ☺️💕

      1. I definitely need to get around to it soon, but honestly there are so many books I need to get around to soon I can’t say when. I’ll definitely let you know, but oh that is a shame. I don’t tend to use journals but I probably will use this one, or I will start using it going forwards I should say.
That’s all right, and thanks Lilly. 🙂 ❤️

    1. Thank you Raven 💓 I agree, I really hope we see more from Sarah Tolcser in the near future 😄 Spinning Silver is a MUCH slower paced book, definitely have to be in the mood for it but highly recommend 🙌🏼 hope you have an AMAZING July! 💜

  3. Hey girl!!!! How the hell are you?!?! Since I’ve been a shitty blogger friend and have been MIA, I’ve got a lot to catch up on.

Fantastic book haul!!! Man! I really haven’t bought many books this year besides those I buy at author events, which suits me just fine. I haven been meaning to redo my book cases & unhaul some books, so I’m sure things will change after that happens.

Out of your haul, I’ve read VICIOUS, Legendary, & WARCROSS. I LOVED Vicious & Warcross! Vicious was classic Schwab. She is one of my favorite authors, so she can do no wrong to me. Warcross is the modern YA version of Ready Player One. Unfortunately, I just read Legendary and it was not my cup of tea. I hope you have a better go of it…

    1. That’s ok! life has a way of getting in the way at times, I’ve been struggling with consistency & blog hopping myself since my recent job promotion. You’ll see me sporadically post with no rhyme or reason haha!

Thank you! ❤ I've slowed down a bit tbh, this was just a bigger haul than recent months because of Bookcon and the epic sales they have on the last day of the Con. I'm really looking forward to reading Vicious next month in anticipation for Vengeful this Fall, have a feeling i will love it since Schwab can also do no wrong in my eyes 😉 that's too bad about Legendary though, are you continuing on with the series? or is it a duology? smh figures I wouldn't know even though I hauled it LOL! Happy reading Amanda! & it's great to see you back <3! 🙂

      1. Ooooo a job promotion?!?! Congrats my friend!!! That’s so exciting!

And how was BookCon?!? It is on my bucket list to attend one year. I really should have taken advantage when it was in Chicago a few years ago since that is only a 5 hour drive for me. Hindsight.

I am probably not continuing on with the Caraval series. There will be at least one more book I’d say. There were too many things not tied up to not have another book. BUT there are a ton of people who loved the second book, so there is hope you will too 🙂
