June Owlcrate & Book of the Month Unboxing

Hello Readers! I come to you with a very late June Unboxing but I didn’t want to post any spoilers for those who receive Owlcrate. Last month I actually skipped the unboxing…more like it slipped my mind…but umm yea I actually like doing these since It gives me an opportunity to hear what you all got in your BOTM boxes & your thoughts on the Owlcrate selection. Some months are better than others, but I’ll admit that I’ve been pretty happy with the last few mths. The April & May Owlcrate boxes (The Upside of Unrequited & Eliza and her Monsters) were a nice surprise because I was lucky enough to have read galleys of these books & LOVED them to pieces. On to my unboxing…

I had seen Sandcastle Empire make its rounds on all of the bookish platforms & immediately added it to my TBR. I heard that it had LOST vibes & there was a time where I lost my head over that show & binged before binge was even a thing! let’s not talk about the last season cuz I skipped it once it started spiraling out of control. I digress…my point is that I haven’t found anything quite like the show & Sandcastle instantly appealed to me for that small comparison lol *fingers crossed*

I’m also VERY pleased to see New World Rising in my box since I have been following Ben over at OfTomes publishing & have added every single book of theirs to my TBR. Not only are the covers all S-T-U-N-N-I-N-G but the synopsis are all sOoO Good! lol *not that fancy with words* The author is a sweetheart and I will be reading & reviewing New World Rising here on LairOfBooks 😉

A bit of a confession here, I have been TERRIBLE in regards to reading the books I’ve been selecting every month for Book Of The Month *sobs* yet I can’t seem to stop picking a book each month *addicted to books* so this month I decided to add a book I already read & loved as my add-on. I was lucky enough to read a galley of A Million Junes & included it in my Top Ten Tuesday as one of my favorites for 2017 so far (see here). Loved it to pieces, it brought back many memories of my own dad & already owns a special place in my <3. The other book I selected had to be the quickest selection I’ve ever made LOL! I mean, we’ve all seen pictures of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo ALL over social media. The books is GORGEOUS & screams HOLLYWOOD! This will probably be the book to break me out of the bad habit, it screams summer read & so I shall read this summer 😉

What are your thoughts on the June Owlcrate box? Have any of my bookish peeps read The Sandcastle Empire? For my fellow BOTM subscribers, what were your selections for June? also, if you subscribe to any other boxes & have a unboxing, drop your links down below <3’s!

  1. Oh these both look like amazing boxes for this month Lilly. Seems kind of strange to say this but I wasn’t aware Owl Crate had sent out their June box yet. This is the first photo I’ve seen of it so until your post I genuinely didn’t realise people had already received them! It looks like a great box, and I’ll need to check out The Sandcastle Empire too.
Also A Million Junes was a brilliant book, I bet you were glad that was the BoTM this month! 😀

    1. Thank you Beth! You know, I also noticed that and wasn’t sure why. I’m also surprised to hear how many readers haven’t heard of The Sandcastle Empire so that’s prob why? lol. It’s def got a spooky stranded on a deserted island theme going so I’m excited to get to this one. My only gripe would be that the bath bomb expires this October which isn’t too far away. I don’t get much time to treat myself to a bubble bath LOL! can’t use them in my long showers sooooo yea *shrugs shoulders*

I loved seeing A Million Junes in the BOTM so that was a easy call as an add-on, very happy to have it sitting on my shelves. I don’t do re-reads much but that’s one I’d like to re-visit one day 🙂

      1. That’s all right. 🙂 I hadn’t heard of The Sandcastle Empire before your post so I think that’s got to be why for me. Plus I don’t have an Instagram anymore so I must miss people posting on there. Yeah I have that came issue with bath bombs, I never really have baths so they just get left.
I own that book as well, pretty much as soon as I saw it was coming out I just had to buy it! 😀

  2. Sandcastle is a pretty engaging read and I hope you enjoy it when you get to read it. A million Junes is already in my tbr and I’m glad to hear that you loved it. I haven’t heard of New world Rising but it sounds interesting.

    1. I remember you telling me you were going with these two lol. I was sure about The Seven Husbands but you convinced me unknowingly to get A Million Junes 😂 made sense since I loved it but didn’t own a copy 🤷🏻‍♀️

  3. I do love the Owl Crate boxes. It is a sub I will keep in mind for when I can afford them. I actually picked up two months of BOTM due to a huge discount I received. I chose A Million Junes and an older title All the Ugly Wonderful Things 🙂

    1. Ohmygosh yay! You started your subscription for BOTM in June? I have All the Ugly Wonderful Things, it’s at the very top of my Fiction TBR cuz it has my name written all over it lol. I just selected my July book yesterday & went with Final Girls by Riley Sager. I tried hard to get an arc at Bookcon but savagery took place on the floor & I rather like my limbs so I had to give up lol. So glad to see it pop up as a selection for July 😃 OMYGOSH I have a feeling (just a smidge) that you’ll luv A Million Junes 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

      1. I have not selected a July book. Final Girls was my go to, but a few reviews have me holding back so now I may skip a month. My friend grabbed it though. So if you and she both approve, I will borrow 😉 I think I am going to love it as well ❤
