The Valentine’s Day Book Tag

The Valentine’s Day Book Tag was originally created by CC’s Books and As Told by Tina! & I was tagged by the wonderful Mel over at Mel To The Any <3! Thank you Mel XoXo! ❤  Now I know Valentine’s Day was yesterday & some may say that it’s over but…LOL! I don’t celebrate my Valentine’s til’ tomorrow Friday. Such are the woes of a city gal always on the go with two tiny humans 😉
I hope you all had wonderful day yesterday whether you celebrate the holiday or not cause I love ya! I had so much fun watching all of my IG stories and Booktube Q&A’s with significant others & Galantines. Next year I definitely want to squeeze in a date night with my BFF cause it’s been a minute…but I digress haha! onto the tag..

1. Stand Alone Book you love

Although If I’m really being honest here I really could go for more Eliza & her world *SOBS*

2. Dystopian Book you Love

This book! Gah! Mesmerizing while at the same time carrying a deeper message. This is one you won’t want to miss out on. I am FULLY supporting & showing my love for this book for many reasons, the main one being that in this world Clayton has given us a society who loves all skin tones & complexions. The social commentary on body image & high standards set by this fictional society really mirrors our own. There’s also LGBTQIA+ rep with three of the characters, one of them plays a main role & sexuality in this society is fluid–two women marrying would be considered normal by their society as subtly mentioned in the book (my heart warmed when I read this). I LOVED This book to pieces!!!!

3. A book that you love but no one else talks about

Why am I not seeing more Bookworms talking about this BEAUTIFUL gem of a book?!?! for all but especially those who enjoy literary fiction from time to time…this YA book about 3 generations of women will warm your heart & leave you smiling! almost entirely made up of female MC’s this book covers an older matriarch, her children & her grandchildren…GAH! LOVED it & want to see more books like this one hit our shelves 🙂

4. Favorite Book Couple

Mustang & Darrow- Red Rising Saga…these two are fierce alone & together they’re a force to be reckoned with.

5. Book that other people love but you haven’t gotten around to read

Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor...with reason Bookworms LOL! Laini is one of my top 3 fave authors & I just couldn’t bear the wait til the sequel but now that we have cover art, guess what time it is?!?! (U.K. cover for Muse of Nightmares has yet to be released but this stunner down below is already giving it a run for my $$$)

6. A book with Red on the cover

Red Clocks by Leni Zumas, a recent add-on to my BOTM box that I am really looking forward to reading soon 🙂

7. A book with Pink on the cover

A Girl Like That by Tanaz Bhathena. My awesome friend Flavia over at Flaviathebibliophile was kind enough to get me a arc copy of this book signed by the author! & I am over the moon happy to get started on it very soon 🙂

8. You were given a book of chocolate what fictional boyfriend/girlfriend would give them to you.

ummm well after this last book (Iron Gold) I don’t know how I’d receive this gesture but I think if Darrow walked up to me with some chocolates I’d be lying if I told you I’d say no….#jussayin

9. You are Single on Valentine’s Day. What Book would you read? What TV show would you watch? What Movie would you watch?

The Hating Game by Sally Thorne which I haven’t read yet but the hype is real & it seems ideal for the day & as for what I’d watch… It’s a tie btwn Sleepless in Seattle and Love & Basketball < ❤ ❤ ❤

10. You are in the Book Store. All of the sudden you get shot with an arrow by Cupid. What New Release will you love.

Easily Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda cause the Universe has been screaming BLOODY READ IT ALREADY! @ me 😉 oh & BTW I’m counting this because the new special edition released 1/30  includes new Simon and Blue emails, a behind-the-scenes scrapbook from the Love, Simon movie set, and Becky Albertalli in conversation with fellow authors Adam Silvera and Angie Thomas….basically all of my faves Gushing about this book *eeeeeK*

11. Spread the Love Who do you tag?

On every other tag I usually list a few but I am a day late with this so instead I’ll say…you’ve all been tagged by me 😉

  1. Oh great answers for this tag Lilly (and a great way to celebrate Valentine’s Day as well!) The Belles is high on my to-read list, so hopefully I’ll be able to get around to it soon, and that cover for The Muse of Nightmares is beyond gorgeous (I am waiting to see the UK version given that’s the one I’ll eventually be buying). Darrow and Mustang are for sure one of my ultimate OTPs, and oh I had no idea there was a new edition of Simon Vs that’s been released, definitely have to check that out and buy a copy, I won’t be able to resist!
Great post, and happy Valentine’s Day too! 😀 ❤

    1. Thank you Beth! It’s so funny you commented right as I was on your blog 🙂 & OMG! YASSS the cover to Muse is STUNNING but I am all eyes waiting on the U.K. cover art to drop, the anticipation is real lol. Darrow & Mustang better get it together though haha! I LOVE Them! & yes, I have it on my list of things To-Do this weekend—pick up a copy of Simon’s exclusive edition. Happy Valentine’s Day! ❤ ❤ ❤

      1. Ha, that is kinda funny. Also when you consider the time difference between us a pretty cool coincidence as well. 😀 I’m hoping we get it soon, either way we know it’s going to be gorgeous right? I may have to add it onto my weekend to-do list as well.
        Thanks Lilly. 🙂 ❤

      2. Yes! Lol it’s 3:20pm here which means I’m squeezing in a hour of blog hopping before I head home from work. It’s most def going to be GORGE! Haha! 💜 I can’t wait to read all of the extra convos in Simon 😆 happy reading Beth! 💜

  2. Aweeee hehe I hope that you enjoy A Girl Like That! I hope that you’ll get to meet the author someday, as she was very very nice! I’ve also never read Eliza and her Monsters yet, and didn’t know The Belles was dystopian (cool!). It sounds as if I need to read Red Rising ASAP (especially since I own it), any I haven’t read any of Laini Taylor’s books yet either!

Also, looking forward to the new Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda edition too!

This tag is super cute, and it looks like you had fun with it 😀 ❤

    1. Thank you Flavia! 💜 I’m really looking forward to reading A Girl Like That & the cover is just so beautiful I’m sure I’ll get a ton of straphangers in the NYC trains asking me what is that?!?! 😍 haha! Omygosh! Please read Eliza, you’re so missing out 😭😭😭 and the Red Rising characters are legit some of my fave in any of the books I’ve read. I plan on reading Strange the Dreamer in the Spring so I’ll check back with you to see if a buddy Read is in our future 🙃 this tag was too stinkin cute to pass up 😂 thanks again Flavia 💜💜💜

  3. What a fun book tag! 🙂 I really need to get into the Red Rising series. I started it and got halfway through but couldn’t remember anything htat had happened. I don’t think I was in the mood for it. I’m going to read Simon vs. the Homo Sapien Agenda in a couple weeks. I got it on Scribd. It’s pretty short too, like a one day listen. I loved all the rest of your answers!

    1. Thank you Sarah! ☺️💕& I completely understand, the Red Rising world is packed with details, characters, and such. In order to read this latest book, I had to go back and refresh my memory on where last we left off 😫😂 Oh nIce! I’m actually really excited to get to Simon since I LOVED Upside of Unrequited so much last year 😆 I hope we both enjoy the read, I have a feeling we will 💜 thanks again 😃

      1. So do I! Your bookshop is too cute & it looks like fun when ya get together ☺️ I’m not sure, I think everyone is so used to always being on the move here that socializing in person can be tough to squeeze in, I’m guessing. It sucks tbh, would much rather live in a smaller city so maybe one day 😉

      2. That makes sense. Does it take forever to get anywhere there? I’ve never been so I only know NYC based on tv shows. I love the size of SLC because it really doesn’t take long to get anywhere in the city. I live in a small city just north of downtown and it’s so close to everything.

      3. It depends. For the most part, the trains, buses, and cabs make everything accessible. It’s just that wait times for the trains since we live in a crowded city. Mostly during rush hours though, beginning and end of work days. I can definitely see myself trading off and living in a smaller city. Eventually we will move, this city is hella pricey to live in even with joe jobs/careers. Until I came across you and Krysti I didn’t know anyone in SLC lol, I’ve added it to my list of places to visit 🙃

      4. That makes sense. I take the train into work but it’s a 35 minute one way when I can drive 15 minutes but it’s better than paying for parking. It’s also way less stressful than traffic can be. That’d be awesome if you were to visit SLC! It’s really beautiful and we have lots of fun things to do! I hope to make it out to NYC for a vacation at some point.

      5. Seems to be an issue wherever one goes 😫😂 but yes I’m already busy booking travel for this year cause it’s a shame how long it’s been since I left NYC for a vacay. That’s good to know, I’ll be looking into SLC this weekend 😉 NYC is def fun for visiting, there’s a ton here to do as well if you welcome the exhaustion of being a straphanger for your stay here lol. It’s really not worth driving in Manhattan, you’ll get no where fast. We drive in the outer-boroughs since we live in Brooklyn 💜 which has some of the best brunch spots in NYC 😆💕

      6. Brunch!! I love brunch! The biggest thing for me is trying to get the fiancé to go with me. My NYC trip may end up as a sisters trip whenever I’m able to book it out that way. This year all the savings is going toward the wedding and honeymoon. I am going to YALLWest but it’s only a 10 hour drive from here so it won’t be too costly.

      7. Yasss🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 Brunch = amazingness ☺️and I hope your trip to NYC is everything you want it to be 💜 wedding & honeymoon sound exciting! 😃 & eeeeK! YALLWEST! 😱😱😱 on my bucket list 😂

      8. Yes! I remember seeing her photos on IG and it did look like a ton of fun 😄 but going with your book club sounds like a blast! I always meet up with Gretchen from ChicNerdReads at BookCon. This year I’ve met a few NYC bloggers & Booktubers that I know are attending & in true con fashion will probably end up waiting on lines together 💜💜💜I hope you have a ton of fun! 😆

  4. Oh lovely answers for this tag, Lilly! I just finished reading (like, today, ahah), Eliza and her monsters and I absolutely loved it ❤ I wouldn't be against reading more of her story, either, ahah 🙂 SO glad to see the Belles here, as always, ahah I can't wait to read it now that I finally have a copy at home! AND WHAT is that special edition of Simon vs. ? I NEED IT.

    1. Thank you Marie! 💜 omygosh! It makes my heart happy whenever a blogging buddy reads Eliza! 💚💚💚 I adored that book! I can’t wait to see what you think of The Belles, seems like a mixed bag of reviews but I love reading all diff perspectives. Yes the special edition includes on the set photos for the movie with Adam Silvera and Angie Thomas since they’re all BFF’s. EeeeeK! Also I believe it includes additional emails between Simon and Blue, this is my first time reading it but I’m super stoked to have this edition cause I love Adam and Angie so much!!!💜💜💜

      1. I only read about 50 pages for now, but so far, The Belles really is promising for me! I have seen some mixed reviews around as well, I hope I won’t be disappointed, haha 🙂

    1. I know 🙈😂 but that Read is coming soon now that we have news on the sequel. I’ve moved it up to my Spring shelf 🙌🏼 and Lazlo would laugh too if he had read the book, but he’s used to people changing his name. My mom’s neighbor calls him Alonso 😒😂 & Red Clocks is also on my Spring shelf lol, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel 👀
