The Sunshine Blogger Award

A BIG thank you to Melissa over at BookNerdMomo for nominating me for The Sunshine Blogger Award!!! I enjoyed these questions๐Ÿ˜Š

  •  Thank the people/person who nominated you.
  • Answer the questions from your nominator(s).
  • Nominate eleven other bloggers and give them eleven questions

Melissa’s Questions:

1-Whatโ€™s a book you feel like changed your life? Why?

Harry Potter & The Goblet Of Fire. As to why? It was the book I Was carrying in my hands when I met my husband. He walked in carrying Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows and we exchanged a look that led to a spoiler free discussion of HP. I knew I’d met my book soulmate & since then we buddy read often ๐Ÿ˜

2-Whatโ€™s a book series youโ€™re dreading the end to? A series you donโ€™t want to end.

Sarah J. Mass’ Throne Of Glass & now that it’s making its way to tv I’m even more dreadful. I’m really hoping it’s done well so that when the books do come to an end, at least I’ll still be able to get my fix lol.

3-Whatโ€™s a book or series you feel is extremely underrated?

Pierce Brown’s Red Rising trilogy, it def gets name dropped often but I don’t feel that it’s hyped up like other series. It is my favorite trilogy of ALL time! I read it with my husband & we were constantly texting each other throughout the day whenever we came across a new revelation. The characters in this trilogy are some of my ALL time favorite, I miss them! But I’m happy to have learned that he will continue with this world in a spin off.

4-If you could only eat one type of food for the rest of your life what would it be?

Yellow rice & pinto beans with steak, lettuce, and tomato…a Puerto-Rican staple โ˜บ๏ธ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ˜‰

5-Whatโ€™s something you enjoy besides reading or blogging?

Hmmm…road trips!!! anywhere & everywhere. Being from the city & living a fast paced life leaves me no time to sight see so whenever I can…I GO!

6-Whatโ€™s your favorite season?

Fall. It’s the perfect time for light jackets or cozy sweaters. It’s also great for book pics, tea, and reading lots of books

7-Stand alone or series?

Series. I’m greedy with books/characters that I love. Which is probably why I won’t watch mini-series no matter how great they sound lol.

8-What book to movie adaptation are you looking forward to the most?

A Court Of Thorns & Roses *hands down* I cannot wait to see this on the big screen & I’m hoping that Rhys is EVERYTHING & MORE!

9-Is there a character that everyone else seems to dislike, but that you really love?

Quentin Coldwater from The Magicians trilogy. He’s broody & self-centered at times but by the end, I felt like I understood Quentin.

10-If you could have any power at all what would it be?

Teleportation. It’s the only way I’d get to see this massive earth in its entirety. It would also be cost & time effective ๐Ÿ˜‰

11-If it was possible to be physically transported into any book world which one would you choose? Why?
Ha! Teleported you ask?!?! It would have to be Hogwarts…well specifically Diagon Alley because that’s where all the fun is had, OH! & where you can find Butterbeer ๐Ÿ™ƒ

How did my blog get started?

My love for reading started when I was 8 years old. Oddly enough, it was through an audio cassette tape of Alice In Wonderland I got in my McDonald’s Happy Meal. Soon enough, I started my visits to the library where I discovered Charlotte’s Web (talking animals? Yes please!)…from that point on I was addicted to the look, smell, & feel of a book in my hands at all times. My soon to be husband (tomorrow is the wedding day to be exact lol) is also a reader & for the past 7 years has been my willing & sometimes unwilling book buddy/1 man fan-girl spectator. Last year I discovered Booktube…what?!?! People reviewing, gushing, hauling, ranting & raving about BOOKS?!?! Netflix quickly placed in the back burner, I was dedicated to watching and commenting. After all, this was a community filled with people just like me. Passionate about all things books. I no longer felt like the only bookworm on the face of the planet lol. Still, I found myself really wanting to have a space of my own in this book community not just sit on the sidelines. As an introvert & someone who has anxiety, it didn’t seem likely that I’d make my channel any time soon. Enter—> Bookstagram!!! Turns out I enjoy taking photos of my books (not just my 2 kids lol) & there was a place online already doing that. I love Bookstagramm! Participating in the monthly challenges is fun & a cool way to connect with other readers. It was during my Booktube viewing though, that I stumbled across Gretchen over at ChicNerdReads who I found I could relate to. Welp, one day she announced that she had started a book blog. Now, the hubby had often suggested I start one but I guess it took me seeing someone like me work up the nerve to do it to finally give me that push. So thanks again Gretchen! You da best! Lol

My 2 pieces of advice to new bloggers?

I am a new blogger myself so I’m not yet comfortable with giving advice on blogging. Instead I’ll share some of the advice I found useful:

โ€ขStay connected to other book bloggers by reading & commenting on their posts.

โ€ขParticipate in weekly memes like Top 5 Wednesday & Tuesday Talks

โ€ข A clean & organized layout will probably encourage others to feel welcome

โ€ข thoughtful reviews & recommendations with warnings whenever they include spoilers
