It’s rare when I’m equally invested in both the FMC and MC when reading romance but Jackson and Delilah had all of my attention in that mountain cabin in the middle of a storm. First-Time Caller (My Review) introduced me to B.K. Borison’s writing but And Now, Back to You made them an auto-buy author for me. These are inter-connected stories but unlike others, we actually get a healthy dose of previous characters appearances (bestie Aiden Valentine & Lucie Stone) in this latest installment. What I loved? the inclusion of their careers in detail, it never felt like they weren’t on assignment and we even get to see some of the bonkers pieces Delilah was given that landed her in some silly costumes. This added meaning and urgency to Delilah successfully covering this snowstorm, she’s a baddie woman in STEM fighting for some respect and acknowledgment. Jackson’s shyness/stuttering on air wasn’t his biggest hurdle, healing his inner child and allowing himself to accept help from his found family was. Jackson’s mom checked out mentally when he was still a boy but continued to have kids, twin girls that fully became his responsibility until he was able to full out adopt them. His responsible more serious nature paired with Delilah’s sunshine and rainbows friendliness (When Harry Met Sally inspired) was a fun time to watch evolve to friendship and then some. Before I wrap this up, my girl Delilah is a fellow plus size girly and Jackson loved every curve! she loves her sprinkles on EVERYTHING! be it donuts or coffee, her confidence and love for the baddie she knows she is was what made me love her even more. Lastly, I LOVED Baltimore as a back-drop setting seen through the ears of listeners/watchers of the radio and TV station and the different assignments Delilah was sent to cover. This was slow burn close to 500 pages of slow burn and that in and of itself is a tough task to take on but there wasn’t a dull moment in sight! tbh this is what I consider a real rom-com and would love to see a movie adaptation.
