In the midst of all the chaos that has been my February, two things remained pretty constant…Owlcrate & Book of the Month! they arrived in the middle of me moving to my brand spankin new apartment. In the middle of boxes, newspapers, and bubble wrap, I sat down & opened up my book mail cuz that’s the type of bookworm I am LOL smh. I was also in much need of normalcy cuz everything truly happened so fast (more of that to come in my wrap-up).

Whatever you’ve heard about Caraval, it doesn’t compare to the reality. It’s more than just a game or a performance. It’s the closest you’ll ever find to magic in this world . . .
Welcome, welcome to Caraval―Stephanie Garber’s sweeping tale of two sisters who escape their ruthless father when they enter the dangerous intrigue of a legendary game.
Scarlett has never left the tiny island where she and her beloved sister, Tella, live with their powerful, and cruel, father. Now Scarlett’s father has arranged a marriage for her, and Scarlett thinks her dreams of seeing Caraval, the far-away, once-a-year performance where the audience participates in the show, are over.
But this year, Scarlett’s long-dreamt of invitation finally arrives. With the help of a mysterious sailor, Tella whisks Scarlett away to the show. Only, as soon as they arrive, Tella is kidnapped by Caraval’s mastermind organizer, Legend. It turns out that this season’s Caraval revolves around Tella, and whoever finds her first is the winner.
Scarlett has been told that everything that happens during Caraval is only an elaborate performance. But she nevertheless becomes enmeshed in a game of love, heartbreak, and magic with the other players in the game. And whether Caraval is real or not, she must find Tella before the five nights of the game are over, a dangerous domino effect of consequences is set off, and her sister disappears forever.

Pachinko follows one Korean family through the generations, beginning in early 1900s Korea with Sunja, the prized daughter of a poor yet proud family, whose unplanned pregnancy threatens to shame them all. Deserted by her lover, Sunja is saved when a young tubercular minister offers to marry and bring her to Japan.
So begins a sweeping saga of an exceptional family in exile from its homeland and caught in the indifferent arc of history. Through desperate struggles and hard-won triumphs, its members are bound together by deep roots as they face enduring questions of faith, family, and identity.
It looks really great! I’ve always wanted to subscribe to Owlcrate, but was hesitant to do so! I haven’t read Caraval yet, though it is sitting in my house, so maybe I should get on it… 😉

I’ve seen some pictures of the Owl Crate box for this month and it looks amazing! I definitely wish this was one I’d got as well, despite already owning a copy of Caraval. The tote bag is gorgeous, I am a massive fan of The Night Circus and I really one day would love to get my hands on a Night Circus candle but the shipping from the US for all the candle companies that do them is just to expensive for me to justify the purchase.
Have you read Caraval yet? It’s an amazing book, one of my all-time favourites now so I really hope you love it.
Also the cover for Pachinko is gorgeous, and it sounds like an interesting book so I hope you enjoy that one as well! 😀

Ugh its the worse! lol, shipping from the U.K. to the U.S. has prevented me from getting so many much desired bookish goodies smh. A Night Circus themed candle sounds lovely *heart eyes* LOVED that book! I was actually at the bookstore last night trying to find a hardcover but to no avail. I have not yet read Caraval but It’s up there in my priority list since I’ve missed the circus setting so much! Pachinko does look stunning & it’s quite the hefty book lol, can’t wait to get to it though 🙂

Why can’t shipping be cheaper, then we could all get some amazing bookish goodies. Still I’ve found some shops in the UK I use now, just waiting for one of them to offer a Night Circus candle! 😀
The Night Circus is on my to-read list for this month, can’t wait to get around to it again. And I hope you enjoy Caraval and Pachinko too! 🙂

Aside from the fact that I failed to connect with Caraval, I love that box! I would not complain at all to have that tote. Night Circus ❤ Well you know how I feel 😘

HAHA! I know, I hope I connect with it though cuz I sure did wait for it with much anticipation lol! & it is now my favorite tote EVER! smh. Night Circus holds a special place in my heart that probably will never be filled again til’ Erin Morgenstern decides to pick up a pen again ***fingers crossed***

I love the ideas of BOM and bookish crates/loot/boxes/etc– but I can never take the leap! They are all so different, I don’t know which one to choose! Also, well, there isn’t a ton of space for more books. But, I think I’d lean towards something which comes with bookish stuff, like Owlcrate.
I’m glad these arrived to provide you some sense of normalcy! Be patient– it’ll all be over soon. 🙂

I know what you mean Jackie! I debate every month whether to cancel one & pick up a new one but so far these seem the most worth the $ I spend. I get my YA & Fiction dose recommendations each month. I wish I could sub to the Fairy Loot but alas my dollar does not extend to the far reaches of the U.K. LOL! & thank you Jackie, slowly but surely life is beginning to settle down 🙂

Some day I know I’ll make a commitment to a box. Today is not that day. Besides, what happens if I open the flood gates? I might never stop subscribing!

Haha! Oh I agree! It’s actually happened to me 🙈when I first discovered sub boxes I went crazy & didn’t stop at just books 😳 & now I’ve restricted myself to just book of the month. Owlcrate is an ongoing gift from hubby so I don’t count it 😏

I think that’s completely reasonable. Gifts shouldn’t count. 😀 Now I just need to find a crate/box for me!
